From Dashboard to Engine: Why I Rebuilt GrowthCues as a Headless Intelligence Layer

I killed the dashboard to save the insight. Learn why GrowthCues pivoted to become the warehouse-native semantic layer for your Composable CDP, empowering GTM Engineers to model journeys and activate predictive signals via Segment, Rudderstack, and Reverse ETL.

When I launched GrowthCues 1.0, my mission was simple: help B2B SaaS teams move from reactive firefighting to proactive growth. As a former PM, I built the tool I always wanted—an "AI-native product analytics tool" where you could log in and understand why customers were behaving a certain way.

I learned a lot from that first version. But the biggest lesson came from watching GTM Engineers and RevOps leaders struggle with their data stacks.

I realized that while teams loved the insights, they hated the silo.

They didn't want another login. They didn't want another dashboard that Sales reps ignored. They wanted the intelligence—the churn scores, the PQL flags, the activation milestones—to live where their teams already worked: in Salesforce, HubSpot, and Slack.

That’s why today, I am launching GrowthCues 2.0.

I have completely re-architected the product. It is no longer a "Product Analytics Tool." It is now the Headless Intelligence Layer for your Composable CDP.

Here is what that means and why it changes the game for your GTM stack.

The Missing Piece of the Composable CDP

The modern data stack has successfully unbundled the monolithic CDP.

  • Collection: You use Segment or Rudderstack.
  • Storage: You consolidate everything in Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Activation: You use Hightouch or Census to sync data back to business tools.

The infrastructure is brilliant. But the logic flowing through it is broken.

I see it constantly: critical GTM signals—like "High-Intent Trial Account" or "Churn Risk Enterprise Customer"—are defined in brittle, 500-line SQL queries pasted into dbt models or buried inside a Reverse ETL tool’s query builder.

This creates a "Logic Gap." Your pipes are modern, but your intelligence is manual and hard to maintain.

Enter GrowthCues 2.0: The Brain for Your Stack

GrowthCues 2.0 fills this gap. I built a warehouse-native semantic layer that lets you model customer journeys and generate predictive signals without writing code.

I didn't build it to replace your stack; I built it to make your stack smarter.

1. Universal Schema Support (Segment & Rudderstack)

In v1.0, the product was tightly coupled to Rudderstack. In v2.0, I made it ecosystem-native. GrowthCues now supports standard event schemas from both Segment and Rudderstack out of the box. You connect your warehouse, and the engine automatically maps your raw data to a robust B2B data model.

2. Headless Activation via Reverse ETL

I deprecated the dashboard to focus entirely on your infrastructure. GrowthCues now writes clean, enriched tables (e.g., ACCOUNT_HEALTH_SCORES) directly back to your warehouse.

This makes GrowthCues the perfect upstream partner for Hightouch, Census, or Rudderstack Reverse ETL. You define the logic once in the no-code editor, and your Reverse ETL tool simply picks up the "Activation-Ready" table and syncs it to your CRM. No more hacking SQL inside your sync tool.

3. From GenAI Summaries to Predictive Scores

In v1.0, I used AI to give you text summaries. In v2.0, I'm using AI to give you predictive leverage. The engine now analyzes historical usage patterns to generate hard, queryable scores for:

  • Activation Probability
  • Retention Health
  • Expansion Potential

These scores live in your warehouse, updated daily or hourly, ready to trigger automated plays.

Built for the GTM Engineer

I built v1.0 for the Product Manager (my former self) who wanted answers. I built v2.0 for the GTM Engineer who wants to build systems.

If you are tired of maintaining brittle SQL scripts and want to turn your data warehouse into a proactive GTM engine, this version is for you.

Pricing Update: As a bootstrapper, I know the pain of "seat taxes." That's why the core Semantic Layer is now free. You can model unlimited milestones and metrics for up to 100 accounts without paying a cent.
